Consignment Fees & Policy for eBay Listings
Free Consultation
We offer a Free Consultation and free preliminary visual evaluation of your property. At that time, we will give you, the
consignor, our best opinion regarding whether it will successfully sell on eBay or other on-line auction service.
We only accept consignment business when we believe the customer's property will sell successfully on-line.
Initial Listing Fees
In order to list an item for sale on eBay, we require the greater of $10.00 or 5% of the starting bid as a standard
retainer. This is refundable if and only if the item successfully sells.
This fee may be waived or discounted, at our discretion, for multiple items that are either identical or very similar. Any
discounts given are negotiable and handled on an individual case basis.
Fine Jewelry: For jewelry items valued over $1000, we will generally require a retainer of $100 to $500 (usually
$200) depending on the number of times you would like it listed on eBay, the level of difficulty to photograph, the
current market demand, and the minimum starting bid. We will refund 50% of this retainer if and only if the item
successfully sells. All fine jewelry items valued over $1000 must be evaluated by a graduate gemologist. We require a
copy of the jewelry evaluation (no more than 6 months old).
Final Value Fee (Commission)
We only charge this fee if your item successfully sells. This fee is based solely upon the selling price (final winning bid).

Market Research Fee
We charge $5.00 to $20.00 per item (depending on the value of the item) to perform preliminary detailed market
research. We offer this service to determine an item’s demand & supply on eBay. This includes but is not limited to
recent average selling price, recent success rate (a.k.a., sell-through %), and starting bid recommendations.
This fee will be refunded if and only if the item successfully sells.
This fee may be waived or discounted, at our discretion, for high success rate items, items that have a value over
$1000.00 or for consignees that bring us multiple identical or very similar items.
Payment of Fees and Sales
Initial Listing Fees:
We expect payment of initial listing and listing upgrade fees at the time the item is delivered to Perry Mercantile, or
when a consignment agreement is completed if the item will remain in the possession of the consignee or third party.
Perry Mercantile prefers to collect market research fees at the time the research is requested. However, this is
negotiable. Please make all checks payable to Perry Mercantile, Inc.
Payment of Successful Sales:
We will deduct our fees from the final value (selling price) of the item. If we collected money for listing fees, we will add
it the payment for a successful sale. We will then pay the consignor, after a waiting period of 15 to 45 days
(depending on the payment method) from the time of receipt of the auction payment.
